Modric wins UEFA player of the Year award in Monaco

Real Madrid superstar Luka Modric has been named the UEFA Champions League player of the year at a ceremony held in Monaco, France on Thursday evening, August 30.

The Croatia international defeated Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah to win the UEFA award in Monaco.

Last season, Luka Modric was superb for Real Madrid helping them to win the 2017/18 Champions League title beating Liverpool in the final in Kiev.

He also led his national team to the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia losing to France in the final.

Rooney could earn N222m per-week if he moves to China CSL clubs Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao – the richest club in China - and Beijing Guoan believe they can woo the striker who is no longer a guaranteed starter for club and country. The 31-year-old will join former Chelsea star Oscar who was the latest name to join their growing list of stars with the Brazilian joining Shanghai SIPG in a £52 million deal worth £400,000 a week.
