36 militants to die by hanging for killing military men

– 36 militants are to die by hanging – The people will face the hangman’s noose for killing Iraqi troops in 2014 – More than 1,700 soldiers were killed by the militants under two years Reports have it on Sunday, August 21 from Iraq that 36 militants were sentenced to death by hanging over the mass murder of hundreds of majorly Shi’ite soldiers at a camp north of Baghdad, the country’s capital at least two years ago. The number of people to face the hangman’s noose is the highest in a single day by the Iraqi administration since Islamic State militants gained control of some parts of northern and western Iraq in 2014.

According to the country’s ministry of justice, it informed that the executions were done at a prison in the southern Iraqi city of Nasiriya. No fewer than 1,700 troops were murdered in 2014 after they escaped from Camp Speicher, a former U.S. military base by the north of Saddam Hussein’s home town of Tikrit, when it was taken over by Islamic State. 36 militants sentenced to death The administration came under immense pressure from local Shi’ite politicians to kill the convicts sentenced to death after a huge bombing that was aimed at a shopping street in Iraq’s capital on July 3, where more than 324 people lost their lives.

The country’s ministry of justice announced days later that 45 death sentences have been executed since the beginning of 2016. The United Nations stated on Monday, August 1 that Iraq’s determination to quickly do away with the execution of militants could lead to the death of people who knew nothing about the killings of the soldiers.

The UN stated that as many as 1,200 militants are said to be on death row in Iraq, as well as possibly hundreds who have exhausted appeals. “Given the weaknesses of the Iraqi justice system, and the current environment in Iraq, I am gravely concerned that innocent people have been and may continue to be convicted and executed, resulting in gross, irreversible miscarriages of justice.” UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein stated. Haidar al-Zamili, Iraq’s minister of justice denied the allegations on the UN’s worries, stating that each case “was reviewed in detail” before being sent to Iraq’s president Fuad Masum, whose approval was necessary for any death sentence to be executed. “There will be more executions,” the justice minister added, speaking at a ceremony to mark the hangings in Nasiriya, where the families of the Speicher victims were present. Iraq has been in turmoil in the hands of militants of various shades. About a month ago, it was learnt that Falluja, a city in Iraq has been in the hands of the Islamic State for two-and-a-half years.

“And thousands of people gather together. I met with governors and deputy governors and executives; we spoke about things, mapping out ways forward. Hundreds of dead reindeer have been discovered following a lightning storm in southern Norway. Officials say it was an unusually large natural disaster. A gamekeeper at Norway's Hardangervidda plateau discovered the reindeer following a thunderstorm, authorities said on Monday. At least 322 reindeer were apparently struck by lightning on Friday as they clustered together during a storm. Some of the reindeer were still alive when they were found, but had to be put down due to their injuries. While park officials said it was not unusual for the occasional animal to be struck by lightning, the magnitude of Friday's incident was almost unprecedented. Unprecedented "It's unusual. We've never seen anything like this on this scale," Kjartan Knutsen, an official from the Norwegian Environmental Agency, told the AFP news agency. Authorities have not yet decided what to do with the reindeer. The Hardangervidda national park is a popular tourist attraction, known for its natural beauty and the largest herd of wild reindeer in Europe.

PININFARINA’S RADICAL H2 SPEED HYDROGEN

CrM8eh0WIAE-x8b.jpg:smallPININFARINA’S RADICAL H2 SPEED HYDROGEN CONCEPT CAR WILL BECOME REALITY

At the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, legendary Italian design firm Pininfarina unveiled the H2 Speed concept, a hydrogen fuel cell race car intended to predict the future of motor sports.

Flashy concept cars like the H2 Speed usually get their 15 minutes of fame on an auto- show stand, then disappear. That may not be the case with this one, though, as Pininfarina is considering a limited production run of 10 copies, according to Automotive News (subscription required). Speaking to the trade journal at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, CEO Silvio Pietro Angori said the H2 Speed would be a “racing car for gentleman drivers.”

The track-only production cars will be based on a Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP 2) chassis, giving Pininfarina a foundation that is already approved for competition to work off of. The fuel cell stack will power a pair of electric motors, which will send at least 503 horsepower to the rear wheels.

The powertrain will be developed by GreenGT, a French company that has worked to introduce fuel cells to racing over the past few years. Pininfarina already claims to have buyers lined up for the car, even with an estimated price tag of $2.5 million. The company hopes to have a working prototype completed by early next year, and deliver the production models around 12-14 months after that. CEO Angori is also adamant that Pininfarina will turn a profit on these cars, something that’s likely as important to the company as pushing the boundaries of race car design. Pininfarina has produced many iconic car designs over the years, but it recently fell into financial trouble. Last year, Indian carmaker Mahindra purchased a controlling interest in the Italian firm.

The H2 Speed could help put Pininfarina back in the spotlight. If the company really is serious about racing the car, it will be much more than another expensive toy for rich people. Putting a hydrogen fuel cell car on track in a real race series could be a major leap forward for the technology, and help make racing more sustainable.
